The garden

Please note that we have a new website. Please visit us at:

Located on three adjacent city lots in Chicago’s Bucktown neighborhood, this completely organic garden serves as a model for urban food production and demonstrates that gardens can be simultaneously functional and beautiful. With a mix of traditional beds, raised beds, containers, vertical and indoor garden spaces, the visitor will be inspired and come away with a multitude of ideas and techniques to incorporate into their own garden spaces.

Evening Garden Tours

If you'd like to be added to our contact list/wait list, please email urbanedible@yahoo.com. Please be sure to add us to your address book so that our messages get through to your inbox.

2011 tour dates have been announced to those on last year's wait list. Starting with those individuals who have been waiting the longest to attend a tour, we have been emailing them, working through the reservation process, and slowly making our way down the list of names.

Please note that due to the large number of those on the wait list, it will be difficult to get spaces reserved this year.
We understand that this may be disappointing, but we look forward to many more years of tours and accommodating all those who are interested in urban gardening. However, if you simply can't wait, larger groups of people do have the option of self-organizing a tour. If you would like details on how to do this and cost, please email urbanedible@yahoo.com. Thank you.

For those attending tours:

Come join us for a one hour information & inspiration-packed tour of the Bayless' garden. Experience Rick’s extensive outdoor kitchen, a multitude of stunning container plantings, a commercial organic vegetable garden, worm composting systems and more. All tours are $20/person and held on select Wednesday evenings from 6:30 pm to 7:30pm, rain or shine. (Sorry, there are no refunds for missed tours or late arrivals for tours.)

Thank you for your interest in the Rick Bayless Organic Garden. If you have any questions, please email us at urbanedible@yahoo.com
